Rally navigation training for roadbook riders

Rally navigation training is about building the habit of reading, confirming and deciding while the route keeps moving. Roadbook Ready helps riders practise the roadbook decisions that can otherwise feel rushed on event day.

A roadbook is not a turn-by-turn sat nav. It gives distance, tulip shape, symbols, headings, cautions and control information that the rider must interpret. Good preparation helps you understand what each part of the instruction is trying to tell you.

Reading tulips at speed

Tulips describe the entry, junction or terrain feature, and exit. With practice, riders learn to look for the useful parts first: where they enter, where they leave, and what detail confirms the instruction.

CAP headings and distance awareness

CAP headings can confirm direction, especially where the route is open, unclear or less defined. Distance awareness helps you know whether you are looking for the next instruction now, or whether you still need to stay patient.

Speed zones, dangers and controls

Navigation also includes compliance and safety. Speed zones, dangers, controls and waypoint notes are part of the roadbook language, and missing them can create avoidable problems before you have even made a wrong turn.

Beginner-friendly practice

Roadbook Ready keeps practice focused and repeatable, so riders can build confidence without event pressure. It is designed to help you read faster, make fewer avoidable mistakes and arrive prepared.
